Although I am not Jewish, I live in a largely Jewish neighborhood. The houses are beautiful and the neighbors are quiet. The part I really appreciate is their dedication to their faith. Through blistering heat and bone chilling cold, they walk to temple in groups. In the summer, someone at the end of the neighborhood leaves out a table with a water cooler, disposable cups, and a trash can at the end of their driveway for all the faithful who are braving the heat to go to temple. We moved into our house in April so when I saw the water stand for the first time this summer, I cried on the way home. I cried because people are so beautiful and kind. Today, the temperature was so low, but people were still out walking. I admire their determination to live in the way they think is best.
When I think of this determination and persistence, it reminds me to keep going despite the challenges of life or if it seems uncomfortable at times. Don’t let anything stop you from achieving your dreams! Make a goal and work on it! Break a large goal into little attainable steps and give yourself little deadlines for each step. When people work on doing what they think is best, beautiful and kind acts can emerge from this dedication. You might even inspire others in ways you can even begin to know, just like my neighbors inspire me.
